Work Experience
Work Experience at Time Out

Time Out offers periods of up to two weeks of work experience during educational studies or immediately after, where the individual can gain first hand experience of working for a magazine or guide book publisher.

We tend to get booked up far in advance, but if you'd like to be considered for work experience you should send an email with your CV and examples of your writing in either Word or PDF format to jobs@timeout.com quoting 'Work Experience' in the subject line. We do not accept essays or dissertations as examples.

You will need to be over the age of 18.

The office hours are 10am-6pm, however on the first day I would suggest that you arrive at 11am. We give work experience students reasonable expenses including travel which should be agreed before you start.

You could be asked to do anything that is done by our staff including writing, reviewing, researching, filing etc.

You will be expected to stay for the whole period of the placement. You may be asked to do things such as research and it will cause problems if you decide to disappear after a couple of days, in the middle of the research.

We really want to give students a good start by doing work experience at Time Out and want them to enjoy the time they spend here.

Requests for work experience should be made to jobs@timeout.com quoting reference Work Experience in the subject line.

For more details about work experience or to find out about training programmes or careers in the magazine industry you should contact the Periodical Publishers Association www.ppa.co.uk.
