Time Out says

5 out of 5 stars

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Urban Grill is one of those restaurants that breathes quality: the food, the décor and the ambience are all superlative. It’s located at Icon House, a building that also hosts the equally-hyped Coco Lounge, Vida e Caffé and La Maison, all from the same team that started Santoku. This group of eateries has seriously raised the bar in Ghana in terms of food, service and interior design. So what of Urban Grill itself? At its heart, it is a high-end steak house. The meat is corn-fed and imported directly from Nebraska, then cooked over a charcoal grill to perfection. The best steak in Ghana? We think so. Executive chef Adriano Kanashiro, the Brazilian/Japanese maestro also at the helm of Santoku and Coco Lounge, knows how to make the most out of the exceptional local ingredients, telling Time Out Accra that “the fish and seafood in Ghana are really good, and it’s fish I recognise from Brazil.” The new menu at Urban Grill reflects this appreciation of local food by including dishes such as quinoa and rock lobster salad and ‘Bang Bang’ octopus salad. The grilled Atlantic black cod main, served with sautéed Gboma leaves (like kale) and local shito sauces, is a new highlight. Be sure to pop in a bit early and grab a dry martini – or their deconstructed Bloody Mary, which has to be seen to be believed – in the cosy leather-clad lounge. You pay for the experience of course, but this mirror-clad restaurant rivals anywhere in Accra, or indeed Ghana. Another reason to go: Urban Grill’s Terrace has the largest outdoor screen in Ghana and shows  major sporting events as well as classic films (with popcorn!).
