Seven teams will race plastic bottles boats on the 1st of October 2016, from 9 am-4pm, at Lakeside Marina Park in Ashaley Botwe, to help raise awareness about the plastic waste issue in Ghana. The event, which serves as the annual fundraiser for Environment360, is a fun and interactive way to teach Ghanaians about the need to reduce and reuse their plastic waste.
Sponsored by Aquafill, Float Your Boat allows teams of five to build boats from plastic bottles and race them, on a pre-set course, for bragging rights. Funds raised from the event help support the work of Environment360, an Accra based NGO that educates children about the environment.
Spectators will not only get to enjoy the race, but will also have the chance to experience a variety of other activities such as paddle boat rides, mini golf and green shopping. Boat races start at 10 am prompt and conclude at 4pm. The awards ceremony will take place at 4:30 pm.
