If it’s nautical art that floats your boat, then the Nederlands Scheepvaartmuseum is a must. Dutch naval history is rich and fascinating and it follows that the country should boast one of the world’s finest nautical museums; second only, say experts, to London’s National Maritime Museum. And this is especially so since it reopened in 2011 after renovations. Marvel at the models, portraits, boat parts and other naval ephemera in a wonderful building built 350 years ago by Daniel Stalpaert. Don’t miss the huge replica VOC ship at the rear.
