Getting from Schipol Airport

By bus

Connexxion counter, Section A7, Arrivals, Schiphol Airport (038 339 4741/www.airporthotelshuttle.nl). Times every 30min 6am-9pm. Tickets Single €12.50. Return €19.50. Credit No credit cards.
This bus service from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam is available to anyone prepared to pay, not just hotel guests. However, to get door-to-door service and the return pick-up, you'll have to be staying at one of the hundred-odd allied hotels (but with buses stopping at each of these, it's easy to get off very near your destination). Schedules and the expanding list of allied hotels are on the website (which also has a booking service).

By rail

The journey to Centraal Station takes about 20 minutes. Make sure you buy your ticket before boarding, otherwise you'll incur a €35 fine. Note that return tickets are valid for that day only.

By taxis

There are always plenty of taxis at the main exit. They're pricey: a fixed fare from the airport to the south and west of the city is about €25, and to the centre is about €35.
