Refreshing the parts other hotels cannot reach, this hotel was where Heineken first began brewing in the 1870s. And if you choose to partake in a little liquid history, you can follow it with a new(er) speciality: steak – nearly six million have been seared, grilled, roasted and generally burnt to various degrees of carboniferous perfection here over the years. When the time comes to walk off all that ingested indulgence you can always repair to the nearby Magna Plaza, or the Nieuwezijds scene, for alternative forms of conspicuous consumption.
