Run by the same family since 1917, the eight-room Brouwer makes a snug base for lazy Jordaan or canal wanderings, as well as town-centre shopathons. All rooms in this (recently renovated) 1652 building are named after Dutch painters, and are individually decorated. Each one is en suite, no-smoking and enjoys canal views, making the place great all-round value. Email for reservations.
