Opened April 2004, this is luxury at non-prohibitive prices. In a stately former bank, the 51 rooms have all kinds of indulgent flourishes: DVD players, help-yourself bars, breakfast in bed. The best views are over Herengracht, though even those on noisier Vijzelstraat offer something interesting. In the bar, you can snuggle down in an armchair by the open fire with a magazine and a (free) drink or snack from the serve-yourself counter. Check online for packages (such as ‘Shop ’til you Drop’).
