While the saints are in De Nieuwe Kerk, the sinners can be found next door in one of the oldest tasting houses in Amsterdam. Its street is calm and picturesque and, since opening in 1650, the place has specialised in jenever, wine and traditional Dutch liquors – one wall is lined with barrels of the stuff.
