Los Pilones

Kerkstraat 63

A splendid Mexican cantina with an anarchic bent, Los Pilones is run by two young and friendly Mexican brothers; one of them does the cooking, so expect authentic grub rather than standard Tex-Mex fare. There are 35 – yes, 35 – tequilas on offer.

Jens is right, it's the best mexican in town. Fine authentic cuisine, and a huge selection of sipping tequilas. The good news is they are opening a second one in the Jordaan area, along the Prinsengracht I think. Also, try Cafe de Klos just along from the original Los Pilones. It doesn't look much from the outside, but they do the best BBQ beef and pork ribs, lamb shoulders, huge steaks etc etc, plus have it with the garlic baked potatoes Posted on May 08 2008 13:16

This is THE BEST mexican restaurant outside of Mexico.
We have eaten there many times and the brothers, 3 of them, have opened a second restaurant. Great food and many beautiful Tequilas. Posted on May 05 2008 13:08
