Hotel Agora review Rate it

Ideal for flower power freaks who want to stock up on bulbs, this homey little place in an 18th-century house on a canal is right in the thick of it, very near the floating flower market. What the Agora lacks in extras it makes up for with nice touches like a conservatory for breakfast and a garden. Rooms are plain but neat and all have canal or garden views.

I would like to tell you about our stay in hotel Agore in Amsterdam.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights over a weekend. At the night of Saturday upon Sunday we went out and came back around 4:00 AM. We could not open the door. The keycard worked, but the door was stuck. There was nobody at the front desk to open the door even the reception should be open 24h. We had to wait one hour outside in the cold (-2 and wind) and could not reach someone from the reception. After one hour the night receptionist came back and he promised them to stay longer then the official check-out time. Also he promised them that he will tell everything to the morning receptionist and that the problem would be solved.

The morning receptionist did not know anything about this matter and could not help us. We would the last night to be refund. Only the manager can decide about this. Unfortunately she was not reachable before 4.00 PM. After 5 days, we are still waiting for her reply. After many phone calls and research on the Internet I called another hotel (the name of the hotel was a part of her email address) and called her. She answered nicely and when I asked her about this situation she was almost laughing at me and telling that she didn't have time to take care of that.

I also would like mention, that pictures of this hotel you can find on their website, or other booking sites, are far away from the true. The eating room was very dirty and a glass door to the terrace were broken. First snow freezing cold was coming in all day long. The hotel is very noisy.

Horrible experience, I hope I will never have to deal with such a bad service ever.
