You won't get any breakfast at this unfussy place on a canal near the Skinny Bridge, but guests are free to help themselves all day to drinks, fruit and chocs in the lounge, making it a good bet for those with children. The ten rooms are all plain - the attic room has the most character - but there's a small roof-terrace and it's close to the zoo Artis, Hortus Botanicus and is just a few doors away from the Hermitage museum. Both the river and the Waterlooplein flea market are just a few minutes' walk away.
