One of the best looking of the international chains, this hotel is geared firmly towards the business market - some rooms come with LAN and Wi-Fi internet and multiple phonelines - but it's still a good destination for holidaymakers. First of all, it's right next to Dam Square and opposite department store De Bijenkorf. Secondly, all rooms come with big beds, on-demand film and music and are soundproofed against the hullabaloo outside. Fork out for pricier rooms and you get espresso machines and some swish design; suites overlook the square.
