Despite its Swiss origins, the Dutch adopted the cheese fondue as a 'national dish' long ago. Sample its culinary conviviality at this suitably cosy brown bar that was established by the rather unlikely fiat of a nuclear physicist: the menu is affordable and the bar stocked with a generous variety of grease-cutting agents. It's best to book ahead.

Whenever I'm in town, I press to go to my favorite place in Amsterdam. I first went there back in 1986 and always go for the fondue(cheese/beef}. I can out eat all my Dutch hosts. This place is the "Real" Amsterdam, I shall return!
