Chinatown's narrowest, most diverse thoroughfare begins at Pei-Ing School on Thanon Songwat with toy and game shops. Beyond Sampeng Lane, dried fish predominates. Skirting the 200-year-old Talad Kao (Old Market) meat and fish centre, Trok Itsaranuphap widens and changes name to fruit-filled Yaowarat Soi 23. Across Thanon Yaowarat, as Soi 14, it purveys pickles and spices. The lane becomes Charoen Krung Soi 16 as it passes Talad Mai (New Market), a more popular, century old meat wholesaler with a famous shrine. Across Thanon Charoen Krung, as Soi 21, it ends flogging funeral wares.
