Cinc Sentits
C/Aribau 58
Most reasonably priced of the city’s top-end restaurants, the ‘Five Senses’ should be on everyone’s dining agenda. Globally sourced ingredients, from Danish beef to Australian river salt, have been placed together in uplifting combinations, cooked with meticulous precision and served in elegant but unstuffy surroundings. Lamb cutlets with a porcini crust are inspired, but crisp suckling pig with apple and a Priorat reduction is superb. To finish, try the artesanal Catalan cheese pairings or the officially unfinishable trio of chocolate ganaches. Suggested wine pairings are impeccable throughout.

To address those people who say that they left hungry, I have to say that I leave every single time totally stuffed. I usually have to have a meal tailored down because the 8 courses are too much. They must be used to American sized portions instead of European plates.
I highly highly recommend Cinc Sentits to anyone who is travelling to Barcelona. The quality of the food and service is well worth it - and I find it to be an exceptional value. You won't be disappointed (unless you are a greedy, tasteless fool). Posted on Apr 07 2008 14:05
As I walked into the restaurant, I thought there was not much ‘cadre’. It was a long corridor with tables on each side, nicely decorated but still just a corridor…
The Sensations Menu: The first part was really nice, soup, foie gras and the scallop. The second part of the meal was not so exciting, the main was alright but barely touched the desserts, one was very salty with oil, and the other was screaming with lemon taste.
But my real problem was the portions. We hoped the main would be somewhat substantial since we were here for a meal, not just tasting. But the portions remained tiny and if it weren’t for the bread, we would have starved! I find this totally unacceptable. Of all our gourmet experiences, we never left the restaurant feeling hungry. At 65 euros per person, food only, taxes excluded, I felt it was a rip off. I wish I had saved my 200 euros on a menu that fills both the stomach and the soul! Posted on Feb 29 2008 11:54
Had the 8-course tasting menu with wine, we would say this has been the best dining experience ever. The food/wine combinations were superb and all the staff went into great detail explaining how the tastes and flavours of the food & wine were wholey meant to compliment - and they did! Loved Barcelona, can't wait to go back and CS will be at the top of our list. Make sure to book ahead or you will be disappointed. If we can't get a table at the time of our next planned visit, we will change the weekend! Posted on Nov 06 2007 18:18
