Taller de Tapas

Plaça Sant Josep Oriol 9

Useful for tongue-tied tourists and for those who aren’t prepared to eat standing three-deep at a bar, this sleek ‘tapas workshop’ has multilingual menus and plenty of seating, both inside and out. The service can be slow and is occasionally frosty, but the tapas are generally of reliable quality: try the succulent Palamós prawns, for example, or tuck into baby broad beans with ham.

The food here is delicious and the service friendly, that's why it's always so busy! Great location too. Posted on Apr 29 2008 08:01

I lived in BCN for a year and agree that for tourists the Tapas is far better than the average tourist will come across. But for the best tapas it has to be La Flauta on Aribau, 99% apanish cliental, youusually have to queue, but is is superb food, very reasonably priced, we haven´t found a better one yet. Oh dear. Sounds like someone repeatedly has an axe to grind!
Funny how he's slagging off tourists on a travel guide's web site. Bit odd that. Posted on Apr 13 2008 19:34

The tapas are awful and the place the equivalent to Pizza Hut in the micro-cosmos of Barcelona's tapas bars. I'm from Barcelona and wouldn't touch the place with a nine foot bar, we have trained eye-sight and can tell when a place looks cheap, and the food mediocre. For tourists with little knowledge of what real Spanish tapas should look and taste. Drained in mayonaise doesn't do it. Posted on Apr 09 2008 11:56

I am from Barcelona and honestly this place is overrated and superexpensive. There is plenty of good places in Barcelona to enjoy real and more genuine tapas!! Posted on Mar 21 2008 11:08

Nice food & good location, especially on the terrace. However recent price increases make it poor value relative to other tapa bars in Barcelona! Posted on Feb 16 2008 09:52

I've lived in Bcn for many years and very regularly go to Taller de Tapas with alot of Catalan friends, who are also faithful customers. We find there is a real mix of clientele and a fantastic atmosphere. No bad experiences and definitely a classic! Posted on Jan 26 2008 19:19

After several disappointing meals in Barcelona we were determined to find decent food here - it can't be that hard. Taller de Tapas was really good, pleasant service, mid range prices but very nice fish and veg tapas. The deep fried artichokes were brilliant. Worth seeking out. Posted on Jan 13 2008 09:56
