This quintessentially Gallic bar once served pastis to visiting sailors and denizens of the Chino underworld. It still has a louche feel, with floor-to-ceiling clippings and oil paintings, Piaf on the stereo and paper cranes swaying from the ceiling. But Ajuntament crackdowns have put an end to live shows, and the owner of 30 years has put it up for sale. Interested?

It was worth seeking out the place. it is tiny, yet crammed with atmosphere. French Cafe music provides the background to great chatter in various tongues, and the guy in charge had a languid yet particular style as he instructed a new member of staff!!! It was great, felt like Piaff, Bogart or the bloody Gestapo might walk through the door LOL. For an hour or so we werent in Barcelona :-)
