Tibidabo funfair

Plaça del Tibidabo, Tibidabo

Dating back to 1889, this charming, mountain-top fairground has more than 30 rides, ranging from bumper cars and rollercoasters to the wonderful Aeromàgic (a stunning mountain ride) and the 1928 Avió, the world’s first popular flight simulator. Few are hair-raising by today’s standards, but more attractions are being added, such as a multimedia ‘experience’ that enables children to become part of a cartoon. Don’t miss the antique mechanical puppets and contraptions at the Museu d’Autòmats or hourly puppet shows at the Marionetàrium (from 1pm).

I spent over €30 and about an hour and a half following Time Out's instructions to Tibidabo amusement park (two adults and three kids on the Tramvia Blau and Funicular). This was not worth either the hassle or the money. When we got to the funfair it turned out that there was a bus direct from Placa de Catalunya that hadn't had a mention in Time Out - I'm certain that this is both quicker and cheaper. By the way, Tibidabo is a great day out for the kids - why isn't it included as one of the top spots for kids? Posted on Jun 11 2007 14:17
