Just five minutes’ walk from the Sagrat Cor is its main rival as Barcelona’s most visible landmark, Norman Foster’s communications tower, built in 1992 to transmit images of the Olympics around the world. Visible from just about everywhere in the city and always flashing at night, the tower is loved and hated in equal measure, but its stunning views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean are undeniable.
