One of a very few clubs in the city that cater to an older, well-dressed crowd, Universal doesn’t charge admission to get in, but the drink prices are steep as a result. Recent renovations by the designer of the Salsitas chain have brought about aquatic slide projections in the upstairs chill-out area, along with a sharper look downstairs. As it gets later, the music moves from downtempo to soft house, which works the crowd up to a gentle shimmy.
