Hotel Mesón Castilla

This chocolate-box hotel opened in 1952; before then, it was a private house belonging to an aristocratic Catalan family. Public areas are full of antiques and curious artworks, but the rooms are fairly uniform, with cosy soft furnishings to contrast with the tiled floors. The best have tranquil terraces, with a delightful plant-packed one off the breakfast room.
