Cervesería Catalana

C/Mallorca 236

The Catalan beerhouse lives up to its name with a winning selection of brews from around the world, but the real reason to come is the tapas. A vast array is yours for the pointing; only hot montaditos, such as bacon, cheese and dates, have to be ordered from the kitchen. Arrive early for a seat at the bar, even earlier for a pavement table.

Please, guys! If you only have one meal in BCN... just avoid this restaurant! It's a fake place thought for tourists and busy locals looking for a fast meal. By the way; tapas are NOT from Barcelona and Catalonia, but from other parts of Spain. Tapas places are for tourists here. Having tapas in Barcelona is as typical as having fish&chips. It was full of tourists when we went which we didn't expect. Good food, but not as great as everyone makes out. We had a very stroppy manager serve us who was very preoccupied bawling out a waiter infront of the whole restaurant. Posted on Apr 29 2008 08:16

Very popular tapas bar that's always busy. Pretty good quality all round. Rushed service. Posted on Apr 07 2008 08:31

This was our best eating experience in Barcelona!! It just has everything you would like: good food, ambience, and at such reasonable prices! The place bubbles with energy, chatter and the constant flow of people arriving. We went two times, one for dinner in the restaurant, the other one for lunch, having the montaditos at the bar. All excellent experiences but prepare to wait as the place is always full!! Posted on Feb 29 2008 12:05

If you only have one meal in Barc,-have it here. It is the essence of Barcelona. Always crowded and spilling its patrons onto the street. Grab a beer stand outside the open face restaurant and do some people watching. The variety and quality of the tapas is great. And,-its inexpensive too! Posted on Jul 22 2007 19:52

If you only go to one restaurant make it this one. It is reasonably priced and my favorite Barcelona restaurant. Posted on Dec 20 2006 22:34
