Poble Espanyol

Avda Marquès de Comillas

Another legacy of the 1929 Exhibition, this time an enclosed area showing examples of traditional architecture from every region in Spain. A Castilian square leads to an Andalucían church, then on to village houses from Aragon, and so on. There are numerous bars and restaurants, and 60-plus shops and workshops. The Poble is unmistakably aimed at tourists, but it has been working to raise its cultural profile, as with the Fundació Fran Daurel collection of contemporary art and the recent opening of a quality gallery of Iberian arts and crafts.
