Les Quinze Nits

Plaça Reial 6

Combining fast-food speed and prices with tablecloths, potted palms and soft lighting has made this chain a legend in its own lunchtime, drawing endless queues. The turnover is brisk, as squadrons of harried waiters serve up good salads and local favourites such as meatballs with squid in black ink, grilled bream with asparagus, botifarra and beans, and crema catalana. For the best experience choose wisely: the quality of the steaks is variable and the paella can taste mass-produced.

The most horrendous restaurant I have ever had the misfortune to eat in. When we saw the wait, we thought it must be good, what a waste of time. Service was slow, staff rude, food wrong and the when asked what the constant thudding noise was that we endured throughout our meal, we were told the swinging kitchen door was broken and to basically put up with it! It may have been cheap but it wasn't worth the stress, and paid the bill without leaving a tip. Posted on Aug 28 2008 22:48

Can't deny that it offers an array of dishes at an extremely reasonable price. Has to be doing something right or it wouldn't be so popular. However, don't expect anything to be cooked on the premises, it's all cooked an vacuum packed elsewhere, it's cheap for a reason...However, noy everybody can afford to spend 40€ each time they go out... Nevermind the long wait if you get there past 7:30. Probably the worst service I had ever, very impersonal and you felt like they were doing you a favour by letting you eat there. Ordered two types of wine, both really bad (especially the one bottled by the house) and when asked if we could take the bottle, half full at that time, there were no corks available. I mean, which restaurant can´t provide a cork to its clients? Food is cheap, but of very bad quality...don´t try the paella, as the only thing close to the traditional dish is the name...
Honestly, the biggest tourist trap in Barcelona, ensuring that people will not return. Did not leave a tip either...in fact, had to walk with my bill to the front, as the waitress disappeared at some point in the night and we were left alone....I agree with Nerissa, be aware bc there are over 15 quinze nits in BCN, all under different names.
There are much better places to eat in Barcelona, so don´t fall for this one. Posted on Apr 15 2008 16:00

What a waste of time. Very rude, impersonal service, worse than average food, let alone anything really Catalan/Spanish. First time I've NEVER left a tip anywhere. Rather have a dose of nits than go there again. Be warned! Only plus is it is cheap. But still not worth it. Posted on Oct 16 2007 17:14

There are no reservations and people line up early (before 8:00) to get a table. Prices are great, food is good and the experience is fun. Posted on Jun 28 2007 22:15
