At Almacenes del Pilar there’s an array of fabrics and accessories for traditional Spanish costumes, on display in a shambolic interior dating back to 1886. Making your way through bolts of material, you’ll find richly hued brocades, lace mantillas and the high combs over which they are worn, along with fringed, hand-embroidered pure silk mantones de manila (shawls) and colourful wooden fans.
