Finally the pressure of being ‘so classic it’s practically a stop on the tourist bus’ proved too much for this tiny and well-loved cocktail bar, and it was declared that to enter you must be appropriately dressed. If you do make the cut, this 1930s institution is elegant and relaxing, with sublimely cool barmen from another era.
