Yellowing jazz posters cover every inch of wallspace, dozens of ancient guitars are suspended from the ceiling and a succession of ticking clocks compete to be heard over the voice of Billie Holiday. This other-worldly ‘Guitar Bar’ (as the place is invariably known to locals) occasionally springs to life with an impromptu jam session, but most of the time it remains a perfect study in melancholy.
