Can Solé

C/Sant Carles 4

Located in a charming old fisherman’s cottage, this lavishly tiled restaurant has been serving traditional harbourside food for over a century. Regulars, usually of port-quaffing age themselves, tuck into plates of shrimp, wild mackerel, stewed lobster and superb paellas cooked almost under their noses in the bustling open kitchen. The decor is elegant yet not overboard, with plenty of photos of former fans like Santiago Rusiňol and Joan Miró.

For who has ever lived in Barcelona ,none of the list are the best in town : try ELS PESCADORS (Plaza Prim ) or try Tunnel Del Port o la Barceloneta ... Posted on Apr 12 2008 18:34

I am living in Barcelona. Me and my fiancee tryed Can Sole 1 month ago and it was the worst experience this year in a Barcelona restaurant. Unhelpful waiter, not really nice food and very expensive, dont eat there! Posted on Aug 14 2007 17:15

We went to Barcelona 2 weeks ago on a short trip to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary and booked the restaurant based on its appearance as one of the Top 3 seafood places in your guide. The food was awful and minimal, with no accompanying side dishes (unless you can count a plate of frozen chips that we had to practically beg for as a side order) and the Sole that I had was smothered in garlic and ruined the flavour of the fish. We could not understand why this establishment would feature highly on anyone's list; the bill was extortionate for what we got, and the service was patchy at best. We will certainly not go there again and would advise anyone considering it to choose somewhere else, as there are much better options in Barcelona Posted on Aug 14 2007 16:59

I dined in this restaurant recently NOV 2006. I found the waiters to be surly and unhelpful the food my wife and I ordered was pathetic to say the least. Our main copurse was Grilled sole which was not grilled but fried and was served totally unacompanied not even a garnish. The bread was charged at 4.50 euros for four slices! This restaurant is living on its past reputation and I would advise anyone to give it a big miss. A very expensive meal and the worst experienced in Barcelona Posted on Nov 20 2006 20:54
