El Suquet de l’Almirall

Passeig Joan de Borbó 65

El Suquet remains a friendly family concern despite the smart decor and mid-scale business lunchers. Fishy favourites range from xató salad to arròs negre and a variety of set menus, including the ‘blind’ selection of tapas, a gargantuan taster menu and, most popular, the pica-pica, which includes roast red peppers with anchovies, a bowl of steamed cockles and clams, and a heap of fideuà with lobster.

I've recently visited Barcelona and I went to eat in this restaurant. They didn't have any seat inside so, I was invited to eat outside, no problem 4 me, the weather was just ok. I asked 4 the taster menu but they don't serve it to a single person. I choosed the "suquet de la casa". The price was very high 4 a single dish (26 euros!!!) but the portion was incredibly small. Only 1 (one!!) shell and 3 small pieces of different fish. I can call it, without doubt, a fraud. If u want some bread you have to add 1 euro 4 a small piece of it. Are they crazy??? I ordered a "cerveza grande"; They bring me a small glass of beer (3 euros!!!)
I asked to see the menu 4 desserts but I didn't see any waiter coming to ask me. Being ignored 4 almost 20 minutes I went to the cashier to pay. they gave me the rest and I realized there were 2 euros missed!! I will never go there again. Sorry to say that but it was really a waste of money. Posted on Dec 24 2007 19:48
