Run by arty types for arty types, Silenus works hard on its air of scuffed elegance, with carefully chipped and stained walls on which the ghost of a clock is projected and the faded leaves of a book float up on high. The food, too, is artistically presented, and never more so than with the lunchtime tasting menu. This allows a tiny portion of everything on the menu, from French onion soup to a flavoursome haricot bean stew and entrecôte with mash.
