Banys Orientals is one of the best deals to be found in Barcelona. It exudes cool, from its location at the heart of the Born to the stylish shades-of-grey minimalism of its rooms, and nice touches such as complimentary mineral water on the landings. The main debit is the small size of some of the double rooms.

Bugs Banys - Beware!
Following Timeout's warm recommendation we reserved this hotel. In the middle of the night we woke up due to terrible itch to find a horrific scene: the bed and us covered with bed bugs running like crazy, the sheets spotted with dozens of blood spots from the blood-sucking bugs and our bodies covered with countless aching stings. The receptionist was not too impressed and only after a long discussion did he accept our demand to switch rooms. In spite of our repeated requests to speak with the manager, he did not bother to attend us, and communicated through his assistant who acted as if nothing extraordinary happened and only after a long argument credited the night. No one at any point apologized for our nightmare experience.
Getting back home we had to send our luggage, clothes and bags to cleaning as bed bugs are very contagious – we still don’t know if we brought them home, but are still itching from the trip two weeks later! Our overall impression is that the hotel is dirty, and the location does not compensate for the terrible service and maintenance.
