Bar Mercaders

This bar is a classic born of love and rock 'n' roll. It draws all types of rock fans: those who look like they were around when Pat Boone was de-sexing rock for middle-class white Americans, heavy metal long-hairs, head-banging lawyers and air-guitar-playing architects.

The Mercaders has the ready-made comfort and charm that comes with a corner bar. Since 2000 it has been in the loving hands of Ramon and Cristina. Ramon is a bar historian of sorts, with a load of experience under his belt in other local nighttime institutions such as Falstaff and Bauhaus, and he knows what he’s doing. 

In the last bar where he worked he met Cristina, and they joined forces to start their adventure in C/Mercaders. They put in the wood floor, brought in their albums – Pistols, ‘Exile on Main Street’, Faces, Miles Davis ... good old stuff – along with their let-the-good-times-roll attitude, and a disparate band of rockers started coming to tap into it. And at the end of the night, everyone’s one big happy family, brought together by their love of and their need for a rock fix shot straight to the heart.
