Among the most charismatic and distinctive musicians who have helped breathe new life into the Latin sounds in the language of jazz, trumpeter and percussionist Jerry González stands on his own merits. Born in Puerto Rico, raised in the Bronx in New York and educated musically among Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie, González, along with his brother Andy, keeps The Fort Apache Band alive. His credentials make him a special guest deluxe for the Jamboree Big Latin Band, directed by Ramon Escalé and made up of some of the best musicians around.
