Regina Carter

The violin in jazz has always been a singular instrument, but in the hands of Regina Carter, its peculiarities multiply to the max. Classical, irreverent, improviser, traditional, disruptive and all contrasts imaginable coexist in the musical personality of this woman trained in jazz and educated alongside names as diverse as Branford Marsalis, Aretha Franklin, Max Roach, Lauryn Hill and Dolly Parton. Her style is a grab bag with three essential ingredients: originality, passion and quality. The last time she was in Barcelona, about a decade ago, she blew the room away.
