If you're curious to try some of the more extreme experiences in postmodern haute cuisine (we're talking tripe and brains rather than the latest flights of fancy from the Blumenthal school), Manairó is the place to start. Its divine tasting menu takes in small portions of Catalan specialities such as cap i pota (a stew of calves' head and feet) and langoustine with botifarra sausage and cod tripe, and renders them so delicately that even the most squeamish diner will be seduced. Other star turns include a 'false' anchovy - actually a long strip of marinated tuna dotted prettily with pearls of red vermouth.
