The five-star luxury Grand Hotel Central offers an affordable set menu in its City Restaurant – and something different for a set menu in Barcelona is that it's not just for lunch: you can enjoy their set menu for weekend dinners as well. The menu is something of a summary of the restaurant's culinary offering: dishes that respect Catalan tradition but have an undeniablly healthy spirit. You could start out with the quinoa and bean salad, followed by a generous portion of fennel and balsamic vinegar veal tagliatta with chips or veg, cooked to perfection, and a glass of La Vinyeta wine. The menu also features the house burger (including gluten-free and vegan options). The signature desserts are by star pastry chef Mey Hoffman.
Carry on at night at the City Bar, with DJs at the decks on Friday and Saturday (no cover charge), with the occasional live performance at the venue as well. It's a foolproof plan: dinner and a great, early (by Barcelona standards) start to the night from 11pm.
