Barcelona's official New Year's Eve party

See in the New Year with fireworks, music and special effects with the city's official end-of-year party in Avinguda Maria Cristina, just off Plaça Espanya. Launched last year in the hopes of making Barcelona one of the world's top December 31 destinations, it kicked off in spectacular style by resurrecting the human figure created by Fura dels Baus, one of the city's most innovative theatre groups, to welcome in the new millennium in 2000. With the Montjuïc 'magic fountains' as backdrop, this is a great idea for starting off your new year's celebrations, if you want to share the experience with lots of other party-goers (some 70,000 joined the fun last year).
