Al Kahwa, in Hamra, is a bohemian and friendly café serving an enormous variety of food to weary shoppers. With large windows on the front and artily illustrated walls it comes across part 1920s speakeasy part designer twenty first century art café. However it is viewed Al Kahwa is a bright and airy and creates a hospitably and chilled out ambience.
Along with plenty of dining tables and chairs, there are plenty of sofas for customers to fall back into. The menu is comprehensive and full of choice. It’s a mixture of Lebanese, Italian and American cuisine, with the usual suspects of mezze, burgers, pasta and pizza. They also have a breakfast menu, for the early worms but it is the sandwiches which most stand out. Look out for a bull’s eye steak sub. With slices of hot steak, mushrooms, cheese and spices it is a gut-busting treat.
