There is a self-cooking concept at Blackrock Steak Lounge in Mar Mikhael that can be lots of fun. When you order arrives at your table, it come raw. However a volcanic rock, which is preheated to 440 degrees Celsius, is brought for you to put the meat on and cook directly at your table. Joints coming with all the fat trimmed off, and no oils, means it’s a meal designed to make you as healthy as possible. You have a choice of three meats to cook on your rock — beef, tuna or chicken, all of which are served with fresh salad, vegetables or fries and an espresso. Lighter starters are available but this is a place to get massive helpings of meat and that’s what you should go for. Despite the quirky do-it-yourself concept this is a classy restaurant and presentation (simple and elegant decor) is more pitched at the fine-dining end of the market than a novelty attraction.
