Workshop is one of the newest restaurants/bars in Mar Mikhael, and is already making a name for itself as a trendy hangout. An ornate exterior gives way to a simple, yet sophisticated, indoor dining area. There is more than a nod and a wink to traditional Arabic stylings with high ceilings and arched windows between rooms.
Workshop is slightly torn between a bar and a restaurant; although neither suffers at the hands of the other. The menu proffers up a selection, albeit a fairly limited selection, of international food, with a leaning towards French and Italian. The atmosphere is too relaxed and the service too friendly for this to come across as fine dining but the ambition of the food is noteworthy. Tuna ceviche, beef carpaccio, risotto and simple steaks are the order of the day here. Workshop is a great place to spend an evening having a few cocktails, so once you’ve finished dining, there is no reason for you to leave.
