This vast planetarium was built in the 1980s. Though changing exhibitions are in German only, the shows in the auditorium are entertaining for all.

Walked out after 15 minutes. Having been impressed with the planetarium show at Deutches Museum Munich we were looking forward to this huge dome show. What a disappointment. This may have been impressive 15-20 years ago prior to the advent of personal computers and multimedia software, but a paper cut-out of the shuttle transversing a permanently static star-field with a few 'youtube' early CGI 'rotating planets' clips thrown is not my idea of 'wow!'. It was appalling. I'm a multimedia designer myself and I could have honestly knocked this show up over a weekend. What galled me was this was essentially a 2D film projected on to a dome. Pointless and frankly embarassing, I felt sorry for the compere. And by the way this was the 'Adult', not the kids show, just to clarify the matter. 'Gross' means 'Big' in German but it means 'Crap' in English. Enough said. Ps their "Bookshop" was a glass case containing a dozen equally out-dated astronomy books... Nice staff though.
