This chamber of horrors is housed in a World War II air-raid shelter. Built in 1943, the five-level bunker was part of an underground network connecting various similar concrete structures throughout Berlin, and today houses both the Gruselkabinett and an exhibit on the bunker itself. The 'horrors' begin at ground level with an exhibit on medieval medicine (mechanical figures amputate a leg to the sound of canned screaming). Elsewhere, there's a patented coffin designed to advertise your predicament should you happen to be buried alive. Upstairs is scarier: a musty labyrinth with a simulated cemetery, strange cloaked figures, lots of spooky sounds and a few surprises. Kids love it, but not those under ten.
