Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche review Rate it

This neo-Romanesque structure, built in 1891-95 by Franz Schwechten, is one of Berlin's best-known sights. Much of it was destroyed in 1943, and it's been left half-ruined as a reminder of the damage done by the war. Inside the rump of the church is a glittering art nouveau ceiling mosaic depicting members of the House of Hohenzollern on a pilgrimage, plus a cross made of nails from the destroyed Coventry cathedral. The tower is flanked by drab post-war concrete extensions, but inside the wrap-around blue stained glass is stunning.
