What's billed as 'the fastest elevator in Europe' shoots up to the 100m (328ft) viewing platform in the Kollhoff Tower. The building's north-east corner is precisely at the point where the borders of Tiergarten, Mitte and Kreuzberg all meet - and also on what was the line of the Wall. From this vantage point, you can peer through railings and the neighbouring postmodern high-rises at the landmarks of new Berlin. There are good views to the south and west; looking north, the DB Tower gets in the way.
