Essentially a piece of waste ground that was once the site of the Prinz Albrecht Palais, headquarters of the Gestapo, and the Hotel Prinz Albrecht, which housed offices of the Reich SS leadership. This was the centre of the Nazi police state apparatus and it was from here that the Holocaust was directed, and the Germanisation of the east dreamt up. Until a documentation centre opens in May 2010, there's not much here except an open-air exhibition about the history of the site and a temporary building where you can buy a catalogue and pick up a free audio guide. A surviving segment of the Wall runs along the site's northern boundary. The main entrance is where that meets the north-east corner of the Martin-Gropius-Bau.
