This impeccably restored stretch of the Wall is as sterile a monument as any in Berlin - with a touch of total inauthenticity, the western side is kept clear of graffiti - but does communicate the scale and sheer weirdness of the thing. The documentation centre, featuring displays on the Wall and a database of escapees, is across the street, and from its roof you can view the Wall and the nearby Kapelle der Versöhnung (Chapel of Reconciliation) in former no-man's land.
