Berlin's own cinematheque continues to offer up brazenly eclectic programming, ranging from classic Hollywood to contemporary Middle Eastern cinema, from Russian art films to Italian horror movies, from Third World documentaries to silent films with live accompaniment. Also check out its perpetually cycling series, The History of Film in 365 Films. The Arsenal shows plenty of English-language films and some foreign films with English subtitles. The Arsenal's two state-of-the-art screening rooms in the Sony Center make it a welcome corrective to the great Hollywood beasts of its multiplex neighbours. And together with them, it is one of the core venues for the Berlin International Film Festival.
