With a mission to promote art from developing countries, this is one of Berlin’s cultural hubs and the place to come for spectacular large-scale exhibitions on subjects as diverse as contemporary Indian art, Bedouin culture or the Chinese avant-garde. In the Tiergarten district in the west of the city, it is housed in an iconic building designed by American architect Hugh Stubbins, earning the nickname ‘the oyster’.
