Some of most exciting stage programming in the city is currently coming from the amalgamation of the century-old former Hebbel Theater (HAU1), Theater am Hallesches Ufer (HAU2) and Theater am Ufer (HAU3). Under the artistic direction of Matthias Lilienthal (who has the re-establishment of the Volksbühne to his name), this is a hotbed for new international and innovative work.
